What the back of your closet says about your success

Imagine decades into the future when your children are grown and you’re finally ready to downsize, you’re cleaning out the house, opening old boxes, reaching way way back into cabinets, cupboards, and closets.

Imagine, what will you find?

–> Your grandmother’s finest china that you never used?
–> Beautiful dresses, shoes, outfits that you never wore?
–> Gift certificates that’re no longer valid?
–> Luxurious lotions, perfumes, and bath products that have long since gone bad?
–> Fancy chocolates that expired years ago?
–> Perhaps lingerie that no one admired, not even you, because you never felt sexy enough to wear it?

Now all you can think about is how you saved these items for special occasions, you waited and waited and waited for that most perfect most special time, and it never came. And then you just forgot.

Now it’s just been a huge waste.

You never got to enjoy them at all.

I’m not trying to depress you here, but then again there’s nothing more depressing to me than fancy chocolate that’s gone expired!

My point is we do this all the time! We put certain items (or experiences) up on a pedestal and save them for a special day.

What does this have to do with success? I’m getting there! Just keep following me here.

What message do you think we’re telling ourselves when we do this?

We’re saying..

I’m not worthy of this right now. I’m not good enough for this right now. I can only have this when the time is right. I can only have this china or these chocolates around special company. They’re not good enough just for me. I can only wear these nice dresses or this lingerie when my body is in shape. It’s not sexy enough right now.

Ouch.

Would you talk like that to your good friend?

I used to do this all the time with most of the items mentioned above. It broke my heart to throw things away. I can’t stand wastefulness. But even more so, I hated feeling like I wasn’t worthy of nice things.

I spent so much time in life waiting. Waiting for other people. Waiting for my body to look better. Waiting to feel like I deserved it.

Then it just hit me one day.

I didn’t want to wait anymore.

I decided to embrace RIGHT NOW and treat TODAY as a special occasion because every day we wake up is a day to celebrate.

How would your day be different if you said YES I AM WORTHY?

How might you feel if you said YES I do deserve that today?

What might open up for you if you treated THIS DAY as a special day and allowed yourself to indulge in whatever special items or experiences available to you?

I live my life based on the premise that the more we follow our joy, the more opportunities open up.

Our outer world is a reflection of our inner world.

If you want to experience more love, beauty, wealth, connection, success, and opportunity, you have GOT to start treating yourself like you’re worthy of it!

You have GOT to create love, beauty, and success on the inside first, and then you’ll see it manifest in your external world.

Don’t wait until you’re packing up your house and have to throw away the nice things.

Start using them NOW. Start using them today. This world is your playground. Go out and enjoy it! Live your life!!

You deserve it and you’re worth it!

Don’t do it for anyone else. Do it just for you.

Your Turn: Leave a comment below. What’re you going to do differently? What’ll you say yes to? What do you plan to indulge in?
